Certificate: Person-Centred Supervision Training

Delivered as 5 3-day weekend workshops from February to August 2026. Nottingham City venue.

  • Fees: £1,965 (SPTI Members), £2,162 (Non Members) Payable by instalments. £300 deposit required.

Who is this course for?

Those who meet counselling and psychotherapy professional body (such as BACP, UKCP) requirements. Professions where practitioners have a responsibility for the provision of supervision, such as Registered Nurses, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social workers and Probation Officers.

 

Pre-course entry requirements:

Academic: This certificate training is delivered at a Level 7 of education (Masters level) Therefore the current academic entry requirements are:

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Ability to study at level 7 degree or equivalent such as, prior educational or work-based learning or from a relevant professional qualification. Please contact support@janus-cpd.co.uk to be put in contact with the Course Leader to explore this further.

 

Professional: Applicants should usually possess one of the following:

  • A relevant qualification with an accrediting body such as: UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist
  • Alternative demonstrable degree level equivalent training (such as Registered Nurses, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social workers, or Probation Officers).
  • Usually, 3 years post-qualification experience or 600 supervised clinical hours.

 

Assessment:

Successful completion of a written component detailing your philosophy of supervision and reflection on a supervisory relationship is needed to pass the course. Students will be encouraged to begin working with supervisees following Workshop 2 of the course.  All elements of assessment and clinical requirements should be completed within a year of the course ending.


Award:

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate in Person-Centred Supervision from Janus CPD in partnership with SPTI. The course currently carries no formal accreditation but equates to 90 hours of CPD.


How will I be taught?

The workshops will be taught both didactically and experientially using small groupwork, role play and case studies. Each workshop will be led by the facilitator.

Assessment:

  • Case study of 3,000 words
  • Attendance of no less than 85% is required (13 days)

Course facilitator: Emma Wren Harrison

Emma is a psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice; she has held roles as clinical lead in third sector and NHS counselling services, with a focus on working with clients experiencing domestic and sexual violence, women on probation, and the impact of managing long-term health conditions. Emma was previously a facilitator on the SPTI MSc Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy programme and Programme Leader on the ABC Counselling Concepts and Foundation courses.

 

Emma's core training is in the person-centred approach, she draws on systemic theories and holds a strong commitment to social justice as essential to her work, being influence by her first degree in Sociology, experience of feminist therapies, and Buddhist philosophy.  Emma has a special interest in commissioning of mental health services, organisational dynamics and the impact of these on client and therapist experience. More recently her work has expanded to embrace the value of outdoor therapy and nature’s relational power.

A note about the application process:

In order to support applicants and ensure the training is a good fit for them, Emma will meet informally 1-1 with each applicant and offer a space to answer any questions about the course. This will be done online.
